Came across your podcast while doing a Google search for "time travel". Since then I've downloaded every available show and am working my way through them all. My next one, as a matter of fact, IS the time travel episode (can't wait!) What happened to you guys? Is there a reason for the cessation of broadcasting? I have found the shows entertaining and informative (the interviews have been a real treat). I'll keep checking back for updates, mind you, but I see running our of episodes to be a sad, sad day in my listening experience!

Hoorah for the Geniuses!

"He is going to test the time machine in the near future"

That statement takes on an uncertain meaning when you're talking about time machines! Perhaps it would be more impressive to test it in the distant past!

Ok so I'm like weeks late commenting on this but I'm only listening today. I kinda got a little behind in my listening schedule.
It was really fun listening to you guys again. I think you should celebrate all sorts of holidays so then you can have lots of shows ;) I'm living in Korea now and we have a whole bunch that we never had back home.
Like, February 14th is Valentines day but only girls give presents to guys.
Then March 14th is White day and guys give presents to girls.
And April 14th is Black Day where you eat this noodle dish in a black bean sauce if you're single.

Nice Journey reference Dan!

Working hard to get my fill,
Everybody wants a thrill
Payin' anything to roll the dice,
Just one more time
Some will win, some will lose
Some were born to sing the blues
Oh, the movie never ends
It goes on and on and on and on

Thanks for the comments so far!
Let me say - I was really off my game when calling into NLO last PM. Not only is it super intimidating, but the phone went quiet about 5 times, which sucks the funny out of any caller. Holler.

One word: STAY!

I just came across your podcast, and I must say, it's one of the most entertaining one's I've heard. It's nice to hear a podcast that's light, funny, and interesting without being bogged down with personal issues, politics, and crappy bumper jingles.

A couple days ago I listened through all but the first two of your podcasts and really enjoyed them all. I liked the music/book segments the best, but they're all great.

Keep up the good work guys, whether it's on Skype or not. I'll definitely keep my ears, and moustache, peeled.

I'm a NLO listener too. Many thanks for calling in. I was here last Fall. Good to know that you're with it. Understood if you want to kick it; end it while it's still good.

And yes - there is room for more shows.

Of course we wanted to hire Alan as soon as possible because of his creative genius and boundless energy. But I never thought about the true cost involved. I definitely vote to keep the show going. It's too good and too original to just let something like this slip away.

I will warn you that we plan to work Alan's creative juices to the enlightened bone day and night. This is done of course all in the name of the almighty dollar. No artistic integrity here. Just a couple capitalists planning to stuff another creative through the meat grinder and spit him out after we have used him up.

So sure, the show can go on, BUT IT WILL NEVER BE THE SAME!! Bruwhahahaahahahahahah!

Seriously though, the show is great and I would hate to see it go, so I vote you guys find a way to keep the fires burning.

Just wanted to comment on the Rock n Droll podcast where Roy Smith (no relation)mentions Cafe Erotica. While I have not eaten there I have stopped there and it is in fact Cafe Risque. Unless there are multiple topless 24 hour food joints in the fine state of Georgia I believe Roy used the wrong title for this fine eating and ogling establishment.

Fab cast, gentlemen! A little heavy on the crotch-talk, but honest, I suppose. DON'T, however, worry about any 'equal time' issues! ;)

ANYWAY . . . Your interview style just keeps getting more and more polished and is bringing out excellent questions and subsequent stories from the guests! Really fun to listen to! Thanks!

Quite interesting work, but I believe the reason no one from the future has come into our time may be due to the 1) the technology hasnt been discover yet. 2) the earth and/or mankind dont exist in the future.

i.e. grobal warming, war, super storms, or massive asteroid hitting the earth......

a great idea this professor was thinking and came up with but the possibilites are over whelming to achieve.

I listened to the Iron Horse interview on the BGR podcast yesterday. That was a fantastic interview. That guy was eager to share and he was able to speak simply enough that I could understand what he was talking about. And is that really how you pronounce the word "iron"? Like "I Ron"? I prefer the lazier " I Urn" But that's just me. At least I don't say "newkuler".I'm done for now.

It's good to know some people take their cover tunes seriously... especially when doing them as bluegrass versions. Quite eclectic - non-electric.

What's up, Terry? Glad to hear you podcasting... who knew our Ball State beginnings would lead us to such a venture. -Rich

Oh sorry. We used a noise gate on our live recording to clean-up some of the road noise. We tried our dbx 1047 Quad, but it doesn't have the same quality {soft knee compression / auto-ducking} that our Drawmer DS201 has. I didn't want to risk taking the expensive components on the road.

Thanks for your comments though!!!

The official response from the Bionic Grammarian:

Alas, it is the lot of a Bionic Genius to be misunderstood.

Moshu is correct in stating that Yuri, and not an American astronaut, was the first man in space; however, I never said an American astronaut was first in space.

If you will go back to my original sentence, it states: "Mission after mission successfully sent men first into orbit, then onto the surface of the moon." As any grammarian and sentence structural engineer will know, this sentence simply means that men were sent into orbit by NASA before going to the moon.

Thank you. You may now put your heads down on your desks and close your eyes for five minutes.

[an open letter from a fan}

I think this is such an innovative and important exercise in an otherwise mind-numbing environment where one must whore less interesting skills for one's bread and butter. It offers what I call, and excuse any negative connotation, 'dum-fun,' which we all need to survive.

tBGR offers some truly interesting guests and strikes a difficult balance- an eclectic canvas of entertainment to no particular segment of listeners. So, I guess you are sort of the Hudson Brothers of the podcast industry. AND, perhaps not coincidentally, the acronym for tBGR is vaguely similar to that of TIGER BEAT!

Thanks for the sweet hook-up and keep flinging tBGRs my way.

Ruth,

Thanks for your message. This image was developed using a custom developing solution, combined with an archival fixing solution. I use an Adorama Ultra Universal Plastic Daylight Film Developing Tank, which I swear by. There has been a recent increase in the number of laboratories which prepare photosensitive materials. In case of laboratories not complying with rules regarding the preparation and handling of the solutions for processing photos, these solutions can penetrate in the organism trough the skin and be accidentally digested. After years of experimentation, the effects of developing solution for white/black Azomures photographic paper on respiratory and cardiac activity of the Wistar rat (weight = 180-200 g) through oral administration proved to test-out ok, so I proceded to the laboratory to develop the image you see before you.
How do you acheive the "Schmear" out-of-focusy look on this logo and the background fuzz of the genius logo? AND . . .is it art or a Vaseline & Cokin filter trick to lighten that middle-age look for the stars?

[...] During lunch once a week, we sneak off to a conference room and record a podcast. We talk about TV, movies, music, comedy, books, art … you name it. Plus we interview cool and interesting people, like Josh, who rode across America on a Segway and made a documentary (episode 12); Steve Burns (episode 11), the Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players (episode 10), and more. And as if that weren’t enough, we even do our own comedy bits (Chasing Jon Stewart; snowglobe history filmstrip; etc). [...]

Thank you so much for having Steve Burns on your show. Sending the link to one of our Steve Burns fan sight mediators was a great idea as there are MANY of us out here who love Steve. The info will spread like wildfire because we have all been dying for new info on him, if there was gonna be a second album, etc and you have answered our prayers and questions. I'm sure there will be many who knew nothing about YOU GUYS who will now..like me.. put you on our favorites list and listen to your show every chance we get. What a win win situation. Good luck with that whole Jon Stewart thing!

What an entertaining episode and NOT because I was on, though that might indeed be a factor. Hmmmmm.
No, a bang up job! Really.Seriously.

I only wish that the original Cylon Warriors were part flesh, because they would be my favorite CyBorg....

Glad that I had JUST returned to the office when you called (the 2nd or 3rd time)
